I hope you're all having a good week of eating as I am currently making up for my big NO NO meal I had on Saturday. I don't even want to say it, but I caved in and had MCDONALD'S. A McChicken combo. It tasted amazing at the time but my tummy was paying for it the next day. That being said, it was like 6 to 7 months with no McDonald's so I don't feel that bad.
My breakfast this week has been smoothies! One banana, a few tbsp of vanilla greek yogurt, 1 tsp of PB, 1 tsp of cocoa powder, almond milk, hemp seeds and a dash of cinnamon...I like to call it dessert for breakfast.
My morning snack today was a blood orange. I forgot how good these are! So juicy and flavourful.
Lunch has been great this week! I had this really amazing chicken curry from Veda and a SUPER salad containing glass noodles, snap peas, pom seeds, coleslaw, rapini, asparagus, broccoli and tossed with olive oil....SO GOOD.
My afternoon snack consisted of healthy cookies at a sampling party hosted by moi in one of the empty offices during lunch hour. I invited a few of the girls I work with to come and try out some of the wonderful cookies I've received from New Moon Kitchen and WOW Baking. Both full reviews to come!
After work I went to the gym and tried out one of the new classes called Body Shred created by Jilian Michaels. The description is: Rev your metabolism with Jillian’s 3-2-1 interval/circuit training approach – it will have you burning fat and extra calories for days!
- 3 minutes of strength
- 2 minutes of cardio
- 1 minute of abs
All packed into an
intense 30-minute workout!
So this was HARD as hell because I didn't know any of the moves! I
probably looked like a lunatic trying to do these tough moves, but then again,
the whole class was a bit lost since this was the very first class for this new
program. Some of the moves I actually couldn't even do mainly because my
upper body strength is non-existent, quick fact I CAN'T DO ONE SINGLE PUSH UP,
unless its on my knees! I will try this class once more next week and then
decide if I truly hate it or not :P
When I got home I made this lovely red lentil dal recipe that I found on Joanne's blog Eat's Well With Others. It was amazing and such a comforting dish! I can't wait to have it again for lunch tomorrow :)
Don't forget to enter MY blog giveaway for Torie and Howard Organic Candies!!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

ReplyDeleteHa you didn't know the moves? I do that all the time and laugh at myself.

ReplyDeleteshe scares me lol
DeleteThat curry looks so amazing! I would love to try it without the chicken!
ReplyDeleteAnd red lentil dal is one of my absolute favorite dishes to make and eat. It is so yummy! I have a slight obsession with Indian food ;).

Thanks Kelsey!
DeleteThe only thing I had in MCDONALD years ago was a glass of orange juice.
ReplyDeleteI need to get some more blood oranges, love them. I love red lentils and have been eating them EVERY DAY last 2 weeks ;-)
I have seen the Body Shred classes and really wanted to try one. Hopefully it will get easier for you! I have been looking for some good Indian recipes lately, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLovely food! I particularly like that curry.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
oh man! that smoothie looks delightful... what an awesome breakfast drink :D
ReplyDeleteTasty looking smoothie!
ReplyDeleteLove love banana smoothies.. they are the best. With chocolate, even better. :)
ReplyDeleteI love blood oranges too. I bought some this week for the first time in ages...been way too long!
ReplyDeleteWow you are definitely eating more healthy than I am! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI should be doing Jillian's workout! But what? No shamrock shake?
ReplyDeleteLooks like we have a pretty similar palate! I go bonkers over smoothies (had one tonight after dinner, in fact) and love fruit as snacks! Loving your blog and healthful take on food!
ReplyDeleteSounds like somebody had a good eating week......
ReplyDeleteI love smoothies for breakfast. I'm not a big fan of eating first thing, but with smoothies, I don't get super full and at least I have something in my tummy.
Your food looks nice and healthy - I eat smoothies for breakfast a lot and loved hemp seeds but haven't bought any since my last batch ran out because they were rather pricey.
ReplyDeleteI love how you held a cookie sampling party - that is my sort of workplace. And I am the opposite with seasons. Am looking forward to autumn - haven't worn socks for ages and found a new pair in my sock drawer when I opened it by mistake just the other day - was excited at it being cool enough to wear my new socks
yummmm to mid afternoon cookie samples! best! those jillian michaels workouts are tough i like them though that its spread out the time makes it go so much quicker!
ReplyDeleteI like your very balanced diet...nothing wrong with a stop at McDonald's once in a while. I find that if I have a craving, I need to go for it otherwise I'll obsess about it and end up having way too much of it in the end. I keep eyeing your tart crust - looks so nice, nutty, and chewy. : )
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see a picture of those tarts, I practically start drooling. I need to get more motivated and make those ASAP
ReplyDeleteAll of the food looks so good, especially that smoothie!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you made and loved the dal!! Definitely made my weekend to hear that!! And hey, don't sweat a stop at mcdonald's...it happens to the best of us. Everything in moderation, right?
ReplyDeleteYou're right Joanne, everything in moderation! Your dal recipe is going to be made weekly now, so easy and delicious!
DeleteI'm doing a 30 day Jillian channel...so sick of her! Haha :) I cannot do a push-up either...and barely when on my knees. Guess Jillian will be good for something!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! She is hardcore but by the end of the 30 days I bet you will be able to do a push-up!
DeleteThe salad looks amazing !!
ReplyDeleteBesides the Mickey D's, you had a healthy week...I love the look of your salad full of veggies, pom seeds and glass noodles! So yummy! And congrats for trying such a challenging exercise class...I would have been a couple steps behind the whole time :/
ReplyDeleteI recently bought some jillian Michael workout videos to use at home. I love her... I tell me personal trainer to yell at me and he doesn't :(
ReplyDeleteYou sure eat healthy, love the salad and red lentil dal.
ReplyDeleteWe all have those days and times we slip up, girl, and it's funny how it affects us all because, like you, if I eat something that is pretty hard to come by in my regular diet, I feel awful the next day and try to strive and do better by eating right throughout the next few days because I hate when food makes me feel lethargic. All the food you've got here looks pretty awesome, though!
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to hear what you think of your second workout with the Jillian method. I did the 30 Day Shred back in the day... and while I hated her on screen, I really liked the way I felt after I got the hang of the moves. Because when I don't know the moves, I am positive I look a little spastic. And that's putting it nicely. ;)
Happy Friday, girl! Here's to a great weekend!
I really hope I like the second workout better! I think I was just a bit turned off only because I didn't know the moves, but once I get better I can see it being a really effective work out! Happy Friday to you Erin, have a great one!
DeleteHealthy cookies? Is there such a thing? LOL 'Course, it doesn't matter to me. I'd happily go to town on any cookie that tastes great.
ReplyDeletevery nice thanks

I think you did really well! We all have the fast food mess up, but you need that reminder of how bad it makes you feel every so often!
ReplyDeleteNazneen
what a healthy feast. :) I've always enjoy browsing "What I ate Wednesday" so I can get more healthy meal and snacking ideas. Wish you a great weekend. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour lunch looked way too delicious my friend, though the meme scared me just a little ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers

Looks like a pretty fun day of eats =) I love New Moon cookies! So tasty.
ReplyDeleteThe look of the glass noodles look pretty cool, I'll be hunt for those.
And yea... try as I might, I can't do a pushup from my toes either. My upper body strength is atrocious!
I haven't had McDonald's in years. Sometimes I briefly contemplate it, but then i remind myself it won't taste as good as I remember and I'd rather have a big piece of cake I made. But now you have me craving it again! That salad looks so yummy!
