Very Berry & Banana Smoothie.
Saturday, January 12, 2013
Lately I have been trying out all kinds of
smoothie recipes and experimenting with ingredients. This one is soon
becoming a favourite breakfast smoothie and it is packed with healthy
ingredients that will leave you feeling energized and full all morning.
You can easily customize this smoothie to your liking by adding different
fruits, powders, and leafy greens. If you like your smoothies really sweet
though then this one isn't for you, you’ll have to add stevia or honey to sweeten
it. Below are some other really great smoothie combo’s you might enjoy.
Very Berry & Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup frozen raspberries
- ¼ cup fresh blackberries
- ½ banana, sliced
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (you can use vanilla almond milk too)
- 3 tbsp non-fat vanilla greek yogurt
- 1 handful of fresh baby spinach
- 1 scoop of your favourite protein powder
- 2 tsp ground golden flax seed
- 3 tbsp dry quick cooking oats
Method:
Place all of the ingredients into blender and blend on
high for 1 minute or until smooth.
Garnish with fresh berries and serve!
- green apple, cold green tea, kale, plain
yogurt, protein powder
- banana, fresh blueberries, almond milk, frozen strawberries, fresh
baby spinach, vanilla yogurt
- pineapple, kale, apple, water, cucumber
- banana, cocoa powder, instant coffee, peanut butter, skim milk,
chocolate protein powder

This sounds like a good one, Natalie. I have never used oats before. I will have to try it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks and sounds delicious. I love the baby spinach in the recipe :)
ReplyDeleteThe spinach was a surprise -- but a nice one at that. A nice boost of iron.
ReplyDeleteLove this smoothie idea! Adding oats gives it such staying power:)
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with a smoothie! I gotta try the oats - what a terrific idea! Good stuff - thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love the sneaking bit of spinach in this...gorgeous smoothie, my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to put spinach in there, and I bet you can't even taste it. Such a yummy and healthy way to start a day :)

ReplyDeleteI always start my day with a smoothie. I haven't added spinach to mine before though - I'll have to give that a try! xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like a refreshing breakfast or snack! I'll have to keep this in mind once the weather warms up again.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great drink that could double as breakfast. YUM.
ReplyDeleteWe must be smoothie long distance BFFs because you add a LOT of the same ingredients to your smoothies that I do! Unfortunately, I have a pesky banana (and pineapple, too!) allergy, but I use a lot of frozen fruits, fresh spinach, oatmeal and unsweetened almond milk in every one of my breakfast smoothies.
ReplyDeleteI also use a lot of frozen fruit, especially in the winter when most of the berries are off season. Glad our smoothies are so similar, good taste ;)
Deletethis looks so good and luckily i just got fresh blackberries! score !
ReplyDeleteVery healthy and delicious looking!
ReplyDeletei also nominated you for the liebster award!

ReplyDeleteOh this smoothie looks absolutely beautiful! I take flax seed capsules daily. But I'd much rather drink a glass of this luscious stuff to get the same effect! Great photo!
