Joshi Detox Snack Prep.

So I’m still starting this detox next week and I’m kind of freaking out. I keep thinking about how hard it’s going to be not having a coffee every morning for 21 days. For the past 6 years I've had a coffee every morning at work, so it’s safe to say that I might turn into a feeble and miserable employee. My friend at work is starting the detox with me on the same day so I am hoping that she will be able to motivate me (I gave her permission to yell at me If I show signs of weakness). She already bought a huge bag of Genmaicha Green Tea for us to have every morning (coffee > tea for life).

In one of my earlier posts I touched on some of the dry foods I bought. Things like rice cakes, cereals, pasta, etc. But yesterday I was thinking to myself, what if I throw a sugar fit during this detox. I might just turn into a mad woman and raid the streets for sugar, pushing people out of my way and possibly snatching an ice cream cone or chocolate bar from a child’s hand. This is an unlikely situation but its god damned possible!! My toxic body has been enjoying sugars since 1983 so I’m guessing some sort of withdrawal will take place in these agonizing 21 days. All craziness aside, I am excited to do this detox and see how I’ll feel. Hopefully well-energized and slimmer. I do hope to maintain after the detox, but i definitely will start eating fruits again, and granola bars, nightshade veggies, normal cereal, coffee, etc.

I know the most important thing to this detox is managing to stay full and to avoid bad cravings. Snacking will be key and I have a huge list of healthy snack ideas in mind. Carrot sticks and snap peas with hummus, rice cakes with pumpkin seed butter, rice crisp crackers, broccoli florets, brown rice toast with almond butter, bananas, kale chips, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, etc. All healthy snacks right? I decided to push the snack thing a bit further and purchase some EMERGENCY sweet snacks. To avoid the dire situations where I’m literally debating on buying a chocolate cake and eating it out of the box, I am going to keep some emergency snacks around the office so that I can survive. Technically this isn’t cheating because the snacks I found are pretty wonderful, gluten-free products that are naturally sweetened. I found these products at Winners! They have a great selection of gourmet food products and i was surprised at all the gluten-free, organic products they carry.

So here is what I decided to buy:
Gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, dairy-free vanilla cookies!
Stuff some banana slices in between 2 cookies! Vanilla-Banana sandwich snack attack!
Made with quinoa flour, rice flour, sugar cane juice and some other gluten-free ingredients.
These would go great with a green tea.
These look so ridiculosly GOOD!
I will try to stay away though because they area a bit high in calories.
Ingredients: Organic unsweetened Coconut, Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Almonds, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Bananas, Organic Vanilla Extract, Himalayan Pink Sea Salt
Rosemary Herb Lentil Crackers.  Dipped in some hummus, YUM!

Brown Rice Pancake Mix.
A great weekend breakfast with some organic honey and banana slices, walnut pieces on top.

This weekend I'm going to purchase all the dark green veggies and meats (chicken, turkey, salmon, tilapia)!

More detox prep soon :)
