Best Toronto Food Court.

Friday, August 26, 2011

I'm not being bias because I work 2 minutes away from this food court, but the variety of food here is outstanding.  It’s not your average cookie-cutter food court consisting of Manchu Wok, Subway, Taco Bell crap. There are lot of unique family-run eateries with the odd staple fast food chain like McDonalds.

A couple of my favourite spots in the court are:

Helena's Magic Kitchen
Serving homemade European eats (made by asians). The variety ranges from meat pies, quiches, potato latkes, cabbage rolls, chicken, and my absolute fave..PEROGIES.  With each main item you can pick 2 sides and this might be the best part of it all.  The sides are endless, fresh, and delicious. Basil barley & white bean salad, tomato salad, carrot slaw, tuscan bean salad, coleslaw, potato salad, couscous and much more.  The price is reasonable and the service is fast and friendly!

Mission Burrito
Probably my favourite burrito place in the city!!  A tad on the expensive side but holy guacamole these burrito's are top notch.  They have a great selection of toppings and meat, an amazing black bean and sweet potato burrito, tacos, quesadilla, nachos, and more. What sets Mission Burrito apart from other burrito eateries is that they steam their burritos with distilled water instead of grilling them, giving the burritos a warm and soft texture. YUM! Also, they have the most tastiest hot sauce ever! . The line-up can get long, so avoiding the noon lunch rush is key.

Greek Souvlaki
I'm a sucker for food court greek food.  I know its probably the worst greek food ever, but I love it.  If I want good quality greek I will go to the Danforth, but for now I will enjoy my chicken souvlaki dinner with extra salad, rice and no potatoes.  For under 10 dollars you get a big meal, that IMO tastes great.  There are also roast chicken specials, gyros, fish, lamb and other choices.

I haven't tried all of the places in the food court yet, but it's good to know that if you're craving Japenese, Middle-Eastern, Chinese, Vegan, Vietnamese, Thai, European, etc. they have it all here.  None of the places look sketchy either, so thats a plus.  Highly recommend this place!
